I like you but then
The feeling is solely mutual.
The heart maybe afraid to love,
And it takes more than ordinary kisses
To drive its fears away.
But a kiss is too lethal to be spoken of.
Still that fatal kiss is what I’m seeking;
And to get it from a friend like you
In a world that’s filled with madness
I will be satisfied!
Nothing I say can smooth
The wrinkles off your brows;
Nothing I say can calm
The fury in your eyes;
Nothing I say can warm
The hisses from your mouth;
Nothing I say can hush
The thunder from your ears.
But in three words I can say
That, ‘I REMEMBER YOU.’
